One of my absolute favorite creative pursuits is junk journaling. Unlike scrapbooking, junk journaling offers a greater sense of freedom and creativity. There are no strict rules to adhere to, and the act of creating holds more significance than the end result.

Junk journal covers are often made from repurposed materials such as old books, envelopes, or cereal boxes with pages that include decorative papers, fabric, and other found objects. Junk journaling allows for meaningful self-expression through writing, artistic exploration, and memory keeping.

Junk journals can be made from scratch using online tutorials or purchased from places like Etsy. You could also start with something as simple as a notebook.

Begin by filling your pages with collages, drawings, and other creative elements. Incorporate personal touches that reflect your personality and interests – things like photos, memorabilia, and other meaningful items will make it truly special. Don’t worry about making mistakes. Embrace imperfection and enjoy the process of making something beautiful and unique.

I have designed a cut & paste printable available for purchase from my Etsy shop to serve as a creative springboard for your pages. Additionally, you can discover a wealth of ideas and inspiration on YouTube and TikTok.

Junk journaling offers a truly fulfilling and rewarding experience, blending creativity, mindfulness, and self-expression. Whether you seek relaxation, self-reflection, or artistic exploration, this enjoyable hobby can be customized to perfectly suit your interests and preferences.
