I purchased a sampler box of BelliWelli bars before realizing they were made with oats. While the bars are labeled gluten free, the package didn’t indicate the type of oats used. While naturally gluten-free, oats are often contaminated in processing. A person diagnosed with celiac disease needs to be sure the oats are either “Purity Protocol” or certified gluten-free. When I reached out to BelliWelli, I received an immediate response indicating they use Purity Protocol oats, which are oats grown in a gluten-free field, that has been free from the use of gluten for a set number of years, and processed in a gluten-free facility. This is the safest possible way to consume oats because their gluten-free journey is traceable from their start.

This pleased me greatly to hear but because it is my first experience with the company, I decided to test the bars with my Nima Sensor. I tested both the Strawberry Shortcake and Birthday Cake flavors for hidden gluten. I ran two separate tests, using a pea-size sample from each bar. The Nima Sensor takes about 3-5 minutes for each test.

I am happy to say I received smiles for both tests, meaning no gluten was detected!
